OUR MISSION
Our mission is to develop self-regulated play experiences for people of all ages and abilities to exercise risk, failure, and mastery.
As Experts in Play, Sport, and Park, we consult, collaborate, design, and construct.
In each playground we design, we follow these core principles. Our goal is to create a space that encourages kids to take risks, experience trial and error, and eventually master the challenge. Are there 10 steps to get to the top of that tower? Maybe in the first three tries, a child only makes it halfway, but maybe on the fourth try, they scale all the way to the top. Taking risks through play helps kids grow in a healthy, productive way. We believe in learning through play.

Our team of CPSIs, designers and project managers collaborate with you, your team, and our manufacturers to give you a playground that perfectly fits your space and budget.

Here is where the fun starts! Each project is unique, but our design approach remains the same. Sometimes a landscape architect will approach us with a theme or a sketch or inspirational imagery of what they’re looking to create. Other times, it’s a bit more open-ended. From there, we ask questions about the site. Is there a historical aspect? Is there a theme in the community? Is there a strong all abilities focus? Are there certain playground elements the community would like to include? Is there a set budget in mind?
Next, we create a design and work out the details, both in-house and directly with our manufacturers. Through vivid site plans and renderings, we work on the playground layout, the overall structure, the different materials, the colors, and all the intricate details. The process is truly a back and forth, collaborative approach.

CONSTRUCTION
Once a design has been selected, it’s time to bring it to life. We are a licensed contractor in California and install playgrounds throughout the state. We provide turn-key installation including all protective safety surfacing solutions. For out-of-state projects, we have a list of contractors we work with to ensure a smooth and successful installation process.
A COMPLETE BUILD
THE SPEC GUARANTEE : AFTER-SALE SERVICE
Just because a project is installed doesn’t mean our work at SPEC is done. We are available for continued product support throughout the project’s lifespan. We provide warranty labor on all SPEC-installed equipment in California. Have a project outside of California or installed by another contractor? We will still work with you to ensure all your maintenance needs are met.
