Outdoor learning labs designed by SPEC allow for students at the Rocky Mountain School of Expeditionary Learning to further their education in a natural outdoor setting. These outdoor classrooms have endless benefits. The circular design allows for all students to see the teacher and each learning lab is ADA accessible. The unique design provides a space for visitors and teachers to explore exciting outdoor and nature-based programming and a space where students can plan and pack for backpacking field trips. They support cognitive brain development by being able to create messy science projects and explore sensory play on the all-weather Hansa Lappset picnic tables while being shaded underneath the custom-designed pergolas.
