Stipe Elementary School

Stipe Elementary was funded by an AIPG grant through Santa Clara County. SPEC identified the grant and was instrumental in getting the grant for the school district to provide an all-abilities playground for the school and the surrounding community. Through design review, public outreach, and work with the district’s architectural team, the conceptual design was revised to meet the community’s, OGSD’s, and DSA’s requirements as well as mitigation of existing site conditions. The final playground design successfully captures the design intent of creating a playground for the community that is not only accessible to people with a range of physical and cognitive abilities but includes elements that will encourage the community to learn, play, and hone physical and cognitive skills in an inclusive and unified manner.
